André Ganea combines a broad experience in the field of classical symphonic music with a
unique and impassioned approach to the classical contemporary repertoire. An accomplished
orchestral conductor, Mr. Ganea was educated at the "George Enescu" School of Music, the
University of Southern California and the Mozarteum Salzburg.
A rising star of exceptional caliber, Mr. Ganea is in great demand both throughout the
United States and Europe as both conductor and violinist. His recent guest-conducting
activities include appearances with the State Philharmonic of Sibiu and the State
Philharmonic of Iasi. In addition he has appeared with the Salzburg Chamber Orchestra,
Salzburg University Orchestra, the Crown City Chamber Players and the Pasadena Young
Musicians Orchestra.
The 2008/2009 season was highlighted by an invitation to appear as Guest Conductor
of Honor, with the Bucharest Young Musicians Orchestra in a symphonic concert which
celebrated 35 years of musical activity since the founding of the orchestra.
The concert received extensive media attention, which was reflected in massive
audience attendance. It was presented by the Cultural Department of the Romanian
Television at the George Enescu Hall and was broadcast internationally by the Romanian
Television and its satellite affiliates.
A proponent of the music of our times, André Ganea participated in the 2007 Cabrillo
Festival of Contemporary Music conductor’s workshop, led by Gustav Meier and Marin
Alsop and conducted the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra in a performance of Elizabeth
Kelly's contemporary work “Blue Maze”. In search of new musical audiences and venues,
Mr. Ganea advocates for the meaningfulness of classical music today.
André Ganea has already acquired a vast and diverse repertoire, which encompasses
works from Baroque to the 21st century. Since his debut as conductor, Ganea has
been appreciated for his personality and artistic talent, for the conviction and
sensitivity of interpretation, as well as for his refined technique.
