About
Andrei Ganea combines his
broad experience in the field of classical symphonic music with a unique and
impassioned approach to the standard repertoire. An accomplished orchestral

Orchestra of Iasi and the Bucharest Young Musicians Orchestra. He has also

USC Community Orchestra, among others.
As a graduate student at the Mozarteum, Mr. Ganea founded and served as music director of the Ensemble Mozarteum, a community ensemble dedicated to music of the past 100 years as well as to music of the standard symphonic repertoire. He has since worked as an associate conductor with the Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra and associate conductor and violin faculty at the Pasadena City College. Mr. Ganea performed extensively as violinist with the Rococo String Quartet and also appeared as guest violist with the Stadler Quartet.
Based on his strong belief that classical music can continue to attract new musical audiences and venues, Mr. Ganea advocates for the meaningfulness of classical music today. A proponent of the music of our times, Mr. Ganea has collaborated with several contemporary composers of his generation. In 2007 he recorded John Klof's solo violin work "Rune", and in August 2008 he conducted the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra in the premier of Elizabeth A. Kelly's work "Blue Maze". Mr. Ganea has acquired a vast and diverse repertoire, which encompasses works from the Baroque to the 21st century. He has been appreciated for his artistic talent, his conviction and sensitivity of interpretation, and for his refined technique.
Mr. Ganea studied at the University of Southern California, the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and the "George Enescu" School in Bucharest. His conducting mentors have included Dennis Russel Davies, Jorge Mester, Daniel Lewis, Gustav Meier, Marin Alsop and Kenneth Kiessler.
